In a recent blog post, Patricio Robles from Econsultancy said website security can have a "profound effect" on a company's search engine ranking.

He continues to say that the
SEO ramifications can be "very painful" if a site is hacked and the best policy is to treat security as an important part of an overall optimisation strategy.
Recently during the conversion from Drupal to Wordpress, several of the CentralNetworks sites were hit with an exploit, according to a post on its blog.
This resulted in a major reduction in its organic search traffic from which it took around two weeks for the company's website to recover.
