New Google SERP
Written on January 30, 2007
Google appear to have overnight implemented a new results page when you include a place in your search query. If you were to search for a ‘flower shop in Chester’ you will notice the search results page is dominated by the new local business map.

The local business map seems a bit ridiculous, it is so large that you can only see one text-based result in the results page without scrolling down, plus it appears Google is ordering these results on the local business map by distance from chester rather than relevance, or usefulness. This means all you need is an address in the centre of town and you can appear in the number ‘A’ position on the local business maps, ludicrous!
